BYOD
Bring your own devices

We are allowing students to bring their own devices provided the device meets the minimum specifications (see below) and the BYOD agreement has been signed.

Because we are a GAFE (Google Apps for Education) school the preferred device is a Chromebook and we are working with Noel Leeming to provide competitive discounts for student purchases.

We are also able to provide Microsoft Office 365 free to enrolled students for use on up to five devices.

Device Specifications

  • Be WiFi capable - wireless n or ac

  • Able to operate a Google Chrome browser and GAFE

  • Have a processing capacity that enables creation and manipulation of text and data

  • 10 inch (diagonal) screen minimum

  • Battery capable of 5+ hours

  • Lightweight and portable

  • Durable

  • Have up-to-date AntiVirus software (Notebook, Laptop,  Android devices)

While some devices meet these specifications, they are not always effective in the classroom.  Student and teacher feedback, from our trial in 2015, has shown that the most effective device is a Chromebook followed by a laptop/notebook for our school environment.

We also encourage you to:

  • Have a protective case for the device

  • Insure the device against loss or damage

NOTE: Noel Leeming does offer both a 3 year warranty deal and accidental damage insurance.
